Watercolour workshops at the Carter Gallery, Great Bircham, West NorfolkAt the centre of the rural Norfolk village of Great Bircham, the Carter Gallery is a fine high beamed room ideal both as a gallery and as a workshop. I have held several successful exhibitions here, but it is also one of the venues for my own tuition activities. The gallery adjoins the Carter Farm Shop which has a wide selection of delicious snacks available. Directly opposite is the King's Head Hotel, while next door there is bed and breakfast accomodation available at Church Farm House. Booking information for the workshops is below.

A Springtime Sketchbook Saturday and Sunday 18 - 19 April 2009. Price £95. The venue for this workshop in 2009 is subject to confirmation. As has been the case for the last three years, my 2009 season of weekend workshops will kick off with the popular Springtime Sketchbook. Using the popular medium of pen and wash, this weekend workshop will focus on capturing the essence of the landscape simply but effectively. There will be guidance on all stages of successful sketching in pen and wash. Choosing a suitable kit of materials, selecting a subject, and drawing and painting techniques. No previous experience of the medium is required, and the course is suitable for artists of all abilities. Weather permitting, there will be some outdoor sessions when we will work directly from the landscape itself. There are a wealth of interesting subjects in and around the village of Great Bircham. However, if the weather is unkind, the gallery is warm and well lit. To ensure individual attention, there will be a maximum of eight participants. The workshop will run from 10am until 5pm on the Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on the Sunday. There will be a one hour lunch break when we generally eat a shared buffet lunch, so bring something delicious to add to the feast, preferably but not essentially vegetarian. The Carter Farm Shop has many high quality snacks available too. Throughout the weekend there will be coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea, herbal teas and mineral water freely available in the gallery. How to book To book a place on the workshop, use the information on my contact page to get in touch. A non-refundable deposit of £30 will be required at the time of booking, with the balance payable on the day. Payment may be made by cheque or cash - I am sorry I cannot accept cards. Further workshops are planned, so be sure to bookmark this page! |
