Sketching and painting workshops - A Countryside Sketchbook
Ringstead Village Hall, West Norfolk. Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2011. Price £95.
For 2011, my regular Springtime Sketchbook workshop has become more of a late summer sketchbook! The venue will be the picturesque village of Ringstead, just inland of the West Norfolk coast. Based in the village hall in the centre of the village, and using pencil, pen and the popular medium of pen and wash, this weekend workshop will focus on capturing the essence of the landscape simply but effectively. No previous experience of pen and wash is required, and the course is suitable for artists of all abilities.
Weather permitting, there will be outdoor sessions when we will work directly from the landscape itself. The intention is to work in and around the village of Ringstead on the Saturday, and at either Thornham or Brancaster on the coast on the Sunday. These are both delightful spots and is just a few minutes by car from Ringstead. Should the weather be unkind, the village hall is warm and well lit, and we can work there using my photographs and sketches as reference.
To ensure individual attention, there will be a maximum of around ten participants. The workshop will run from 10am until 5pm on the Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on the Sunday. There will be a one hour lunch break when there will be a simple picnic-style lunch, and you are welcome to bring something delicious to add to the feast. Throughout the weekend there will be coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea, herbal teas and mineral water freely available.
