Watercolour Workshops, Painting Holidays, Weekly Watercolour Courses tutored by Stephen Martyn

It's always a pleasure to meet new people and introduce them to the joys of painting, and of course, it's also great to renew old aquaintances. Whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced artist I’m sure you will find something interesting and enjoyable among the following events. Throughout the year I lead a variety of workshops suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists. Workshop are usually over a weekend, and topics include watercolour painting, painting in oils, pen and wash, and sketching and drawing. Some of these workshops I organise myself, and others I run for commercial art centres.

My own workshops are held in various picturesque locations around the West Norfolk area. During 2012 I am running several two-day courses and you can find details of them on my Events page. Currently in the programme is an oil painting workshop in April, and an outdoor sketching workshop in July, but I may add more events later depending on demand. The price for the weekend is normally £95 including a picnic lunch on both days.

In 2012 I am again tutoring two workshops at  West Norfolk Arts Centre  at Castle Rising, near King's Lynn. The first will be a pen and wash sketching workshop, entitled "Fill Your Sketchbook!", while later in the year I will be introducing a new workshop theme, 'Think Ink!'. This will feature both pen and wash and other exciting ink and watercolour techniques.  Dates and details here.

Weekly courses

For those living within reach of the West Norfolk area I tutor weekly watercolour courses at West Norfolk Arts Centre, Castle Rising, King’s Lynn.  There are three groups, on Monday and Thursday, catering for different levels of ability, ranging from complete beginner to more experienced artists. The next term will commence in the New Year, on Monday 16th January 2012. For more information click here.

Painting holidays

I have tutored a variety of painting holidays in the past, and there are several venues in France and Spain that I can use. If you have a group of at least four people, then I can arrange a venue and provide a comprehensive tuition programme tailored to your group's specific needs. Holidays are usually all inclusive with the exception of travel from the UK to an airport or railway station near the venue. Please contact me to discuss your requirements, completely without obligation.

If you would like to include some walking along with outdoor sketching, then there is one venue that is particularly suitable, which is Casa Ana, Ferreirola, in the Spanish Alpujarras, near Granada. A wonderful location in one of the most inspiring landscapes Spain has to offer.  You can find more information here.
