Summer watercolour workshops During the year I have regular watercolour workshops, where you can brush up your painting skills and, if the These workshops are carefully structured to be suitable for those who have had very little artistic experience, but also to be useful and enjoyable for more experienced artists. Some of these workshops include free materials, sponsored by Daler-Rowney. In 2010 there will be workshop in May, designed to encourage you to "Fill Your Sketchbook!". The main medium will be pen and wash, and we will have the picturesque village of Castle Rising to provide our subjects. A couple of days of free and easy sketching, during which I will give you lots of tips and demonstrations. Further on in the summer is a weekend workshop focusing on the work of one of the 20th Century's most popular landscape artists - Roland Hilder. We will study his paintings and techniques and learn how to apply them to our own work, simply and effectively. A great weekend for all painters who love the British landscape. Weekly watercolour courses In the spring and again in the autumn, I tutor regular weekly courses of nine weeks duration. These are ideal for those who live fairly locally to the Art Centre at Castle Rising. In 2010 there will be two sessions, both on Thursday. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Both are aimed at artists who have some experience of watercolour, perhaps having done an introductory course with myself or another tutor. During the nine week term we will concentrate on building a library of techniques which will be there to help whenever you feel ready to tackle paintings on your own. If there is sufficient demand, there will also be another session on a Monday afternoon, particularly for those who are attending my current beginner's course on that day.
