Weekend watercolour workshops During the year I usually have two watercolour workshops, where you can brush up your painting skills and, if the These workshops are carefully structured to be suitable for those who have had very little artistic experience, but also to be useful and enjoyable for more experienced artists. Often these workshops include free materials, sponsored by Daler-Rowney. In 2012 there will be a two-day workshop in late April, designed to encourage you to "Fill Your Sketchbook!". The main medium will be pen and wash, and we will have the picturesque village of Castle Rising to provide our subjects. A couple of days of free and easy sketching, during which I will give you lots of tips and demonstrations. Further on in the summer is a weekend workshop focusing on the use of ink, both on its own and in conjunction with watercolour. Lots of exciting techniques, including traditional pen and wash, plus more contemporary styles using both waterproof and water-soluble inks. Weekly watercolour courses In the spring and again in the autumn, I tutor regular weekly courses of nine weeks duration. These are ideal for those who live fairly locally to the Art Centre at Castle Rising. In 2012 there will be three sessions, one on Monday afternoons, and two on Thursdays, in the morning and the afternoon. The Thursday courses are aimed at artists who have some experience of watercolour, perhaps having done an introductory course with myself or another tutor. However, the Monday group is for those who are either complete beginners or those wishing to refresh the basic skills. During the nine week term we will concentrate on building a library of techniques which will be there to help whenever you need them. Generally these groups all work in a "paint along with me" format, so that all the steps of each painting are fully demonstrated.
